Variable Part Codecs

Overview

The common N2SIP announcement framework is used by LhoSipApp-based SIP services, including the VXML and IN IVR services. These N2SIP services support the functionality to include “variable parts” within an announcement, where each variable part is a placeholder for one of the following data types:

Additionally, some codecs provide the following variable part types for use from N2SVCD LogicApp services:

Audio for variable parts is constructed by concatenating pre-recorded voice fragments according to rules of a codec for the relevant language. A language may have multiple codecs, each implementing grammar rules differently for different deployments.

The English variable part codec is provided as part of the base product. Other language variable part codecs such as Arabic are licensed separately.

Codec Capabilities

This section also describes the capabilities, features, and limitations of each language codec.

Audio Recordings

Note that N-Squared does not provide the voice recordings required for the codecs listed in this section. When deploying a variable parts codec, the necessary audio files must sourced separately for all necessary variable part audio fragments.

This recording work will need to be done in each language for which variable parts are to be used. It is recommended these fragments are spoken with the same voice as is used for other static announcements in the language.

This section of the document exists specifically to describe the exact list of audio fragments which need to be recorded, to create a recording script for each language.
